FAQs about ecofy

What is ecofy’s mission?

ecofy’s mission is to make it easy and affordable for everyone who wants to buy organic and natural products to do so.

By maintaining a lean and efficient online business, we can pass the cost-savings on to our customers and grow the market for organic and natural products, driving greater production of these products and inevitably, driving prices down.

How can I be sure that the products I buy from ecofy are really Organic?

We only sell Certified Australian Organic fresh produce from farmers whose operations have been carefully inspected by one of the independent Organic Certification Bodies accredited with the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS). The only non-Australian fresh produce item we currently sell is New Zealand Kiwi Fruit (which is Certified Organic by New Zealand’s Organic Certifying Body) when Australian Kiwi Fruit is not available.

All grocery food items we sell are also Certified Organic, but these may be sourced from overseas if they are not available locally (for example, Coconut Oil, which is currently not produced in Australia comes from the Pacific Islands) or if the local product is too difficult or expensive to source.

Australian products will be certified by one of the handful of Australian certifiers, while imported products will be certified by the relevant country’s Organic Certifying Body, the major ones of which are listed below.

Many of the non-food grocery items we sell, such as body care and cleaning products, contain Certified Organic ingredients, but are not 100% Certified Organic. They do not contain the harmful petrochemicals and other synthetic chemicals present in conventional products and are based primarily on renewal plant and mineral-based ingredients.

Our Organic Fibres will also be certified by the relevant Australian or International Certifier.

Yes. Our Payment Gateway, DirectOne allows you to use a personal password with your Visa or MasterCard credit cards (similar to the PIN used with your ATM cards), giving you added assurance that only you can use your credit card to make purchases with us.
DirectOne also supports Credit Card Verification Value (CVV) checking for credit card payments. This checking provides an additional level of fraud protection for credit card payments by asking you to enter the CVV, which you must physically hold the card to be able to see.
DirectOne provides full 128-bit SSL browser encryption via its own Secure Certificate. This means that all credit card information is fully secured at all times.
DirectOne never stores credit card numbers. This means that should someone gain access to Direct One’s system, your credit card number can never be stolen. DirectOne passes transaction information directly to your bank for processing.

Is there a delivery fee?

Yes, because we build as few costs into our produce as possible, we need to charge a delivery fee to cover our delivery costs.
The delivery fee for fresh produce delivered in sydney metro ranges from $6.60 to $8.80 including GST depending on the location. If you receive fresh produce from us, you can save on delivery for any other products you buy from ecofy, by adding them to your Thursday fresh produce delivery.
The delivery fee for Corporate Fruit Boxes is calculated individually for each client based on the number of boxes delivered. Contact us for further information about our delivery pricing structure.
The delivery fees for non-fresh produce items, for parcels weighing up to 5kg are listed below. We use Australia Post for these deliveries. Large items, heavy packages or orders that require more than one box may incur further postage costs. If this applies to your order, we will contact you with the details of the additional postage charge before sending.

NSW, ACT, VIC and SA: $10.95
QLD: $11.95
TAS: $14.95
WA and NT: $19.95

Fresh Produce

What kinds of fresh produce does ecofy sell?

Our fresh produce represents the pick of the crop of Australia’s Certified Organic fruit and vegetables (and eggs). Because we only buy fresh produce from Certified Organic farms and nothing is imported (except for Certified Organic New Zealand Kiwi Fruit, when Australian Kiwis are not available), our range is not as wide as you would find in your local fruit shop or supermarket, but because Australia is so big, with so many variations in climate, you will always find a good range of produce, so even when it’s Winter in Sydney, you don’t have to go without lovely tropical North Queensland bananas.
Our meat – currently, we sell Certified Organic Chicken – comes from the largest Organic Chicken producer in Australia, Ingelwood Farms. Our meat is delivered fresh, not frozen. We will offer a broader range of meat products in the coming months.

How fresh is the fresh produce?

The fresh fruit and vegetables you receive from us have just been picked. They are packed on the farm, transported to Sydney, and then packed into your box by us. They never sit in open shelves under harsh lights, being handled multiple times, like the produce you buy from a fruit shop or supermarket. The vast majority of the fresh produce you receive will have come direct from the grower on the day you receive it.

What is in the Seasonal Fruit & Vegetable Box?

The Seasonal Fruit & Vegetable Box is a mixed box of the best quality and value produce available each week. It contains about 50% fruit and 50% vegetables by volume and dollar value. It varies from week to week, so it is perfect if you don’t have time to choose individual items or are just happy to let us choose for you.

We can make changes to the box, so if there is something in it you would like to change, just write us a note in the “Notes” section, just before you confirm your order e.g. “please swap Pears for Cauliflower and Corn”. We will then vary the amounts in the box, so you still get the same value, but a customised mix of produce.

From time to time, an item that we plan to include in the box may be unavailable for any number of reasons. If this happens, we will replace the item with something else of equal value. Please just let us know any preferences, likes or dislikes you may have, so that we can replace it with something you will use.

Can I order individual items instead of the Box?

Yes, of course. You can order whatever you like, as long as the total order is a minimum of $40.00.

When are your prices and product availability updated?

Prices, availability and seasonal box contents are updated each Monday evening. Details are sent in our weekly Newsletter.

What happens if a fresh produce item I have paid for is not available?

If a fresh produce item you have paid for is unavailable, we will refund that item from your payment. Where you have made payment using DirectOne, we can make a refund without your credit card details, but if you have used one of the other payment options, we will ask you to provide an account into which we can pay refunds by Direct Funds Transfer.

From time to time, an item that we plan to include in the Seasonal Fruit & Vegetable Box may be unavailable for any number of reasons. If this happens, we will replace the item with something else of equal value. Please just let us know any preferences, likes or dislikes you may have, so that we can replace it with something you will use.

For other items, which may be unavailable, we will back-order them and include them in your next order, unless you advise us to do otherwise.

Do I have to be home to receive my delivery?

No, you don’t have to be home. Our friendly drivers will knock to see if you are home, but if you aren’t, they will leave your boxes in a discreet, shaded place awaiting your return. Please let us know if you have any special instructions for where we should leave your delivery if you are not home.
If you have ordered fresh meat, we prefer to deliver to someone in person, so it can be put straight into the fridge, but if this is not possible, please let us know and we will pack it in a thick-walled Styrofoam container with an ice-pack to ensure it stays cold for as long as possible.

break

Will you take my old boxes away?

Yes, we prefer to re-use existing cardboard and Styrofoam boxes rather than use new ones if possible. We also don't want to leave you with the problem of having to get rid of old boxes yourself.

If your produce is delivered by our own vans (you will know this by your delivery fee, which is $6.60), please just leave your old boxes out for our drivers to take away when you are expecting a delivery.

If your produce is delivered by our delivery service drivers (in which case your delivery fee will be $8.80), we ask that you hold on to your old boxes until you have 4 for us to pick up. Just let us know at the time of your order (this is very easy to do) that you require a pick up and your driver will take away your old boxes. These drivers have a little further to travel to get back to us, so in order to reduce the use of resources, co2 emissions etc., we would prefer they collect 4 boxes at a time rather than just 1 ... we think it just makes more sense for the environment.

What does a typical box contain?

A selection of the best Certified Organic fruit available. We include fruits that are easy to eat, without being too messy, such as apples, bananas, peaches, pears and mandarins, generally avoiding large fruits that need to be cut up, such as rockmelon and pineapples (unless you specifically request these fruits). The selection will change as new varieties become available throughout the year.

Am I locked into a contract or can I change or stop my order?

We do not use contracts of any kind to lock you into a scheduled delivery. Many customers begin on a "trial" basis to see how the fruit will be received, usually moving to a weekly permanent delivery after a few deliveries. You have complete flexibility to change or stop your fruit delivery service at any time. It's as simple as a phone call or email to advise us of any changing requirement. We do ask for at least 5 full business days of notice to cancel an existing order.
